It's "God is my buddy," "Jesus makes me feel good," "Feel-good music," "I feel so alive," and so on. What are people's testimonies in the pop-Christian world, in general? "I felt so alone, so empty, and then Jesus came and it made me feel so good. (Maybe even "I got a warm feeling in my heart") We seem to have totally forgotten why we are here on planet Earth. Yes, Christians should be joyful, but it should be a holy joy that comes from a true heart of worshiping God in all that we do, not some shallow spiritual feeling.

Even Eden, which was a perfect world, was not just a place of pleasure. Adam and eve were not told, "I've created a perfect place for you, now go out and enjoy yourselves." "They were told, "Be fruitful, and multiply, and fill the earth and subdue it, and have dominion..." True fulfillment comes in glorifying God, not in being self-serving.

Andy RomanowitzAnonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1094434028184462599.post-68027888418455453012010-06-17T13:55:45.304-04:002010-06-17T13:55:45.304-04:00Very well said. There's always a motive with a goal for everything we do. We must make sure that our motives are always to glorify the Lord and build His kingdom, even when we're doing the "right" things.

Matthew 6:33 "Seek ye first the kingdom of God, and His righteousness, and all these things will be added to you."

Dan R.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.com
